Atkins to partner with Local Churches as Sheriff

I believe strengthening the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office relationship with our local churches will prove to be beneficial to the emotional, mental, and spiritual development of our children. Many children choose a life of crime because they lack the necessary guidance and support in the developmental stages of life. Pastors and church members could serve as mentors and sponsors to help correct the behavior of troubled youth. While our youth are a priority, the same mentoring and sponsorship offered to our youth can also be beneficial to adults in custody. If elected as Sheriff, I will work directly with local churches to create faith-based programs that are effective in our community.
